- A container
- Tweezers
- Six cardboard tubes (like those used in the toilet paper), each labeled
- Images of different wastes to match the labels (metal, plastic, glass, paper, etc.)
- A tray
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
Take the tweezer from the container.
Step 2:
Use the tweezer to pick up the drawings of different waste items that are on the tray.
Step 3:
Place the waste images within the cardboard tubes as appropriate.

HOW TO DEVELOP THIS EARTH DAY PRESCHOOL ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This Earth Day preschool activity can be done with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, children can do an activity with materials and not with drawings.
In this way, children will have the possibility of doing the exercise more authentically. They will be able to identify each one of the materials.
It is important to remember that children’s mind, at an early age, is not prepared to understand abstract concepts. In this way, children will carry out a math activity appropriate to their development and abilities.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 6 YEARS OLD
This Earth Day preschool activity can be carried out with older children. To increase the difficulty level, children will have to arrange the waste in their respective bins.
After completing the classification, they must count how many elements each recipient has and write the corresponding number on a paper.
To perform the Earth Day preschool activity, children must already relate quantity to a number. In this way, children will carry out a preschooler activity appropriate to their development and abilities.
