Sensory stimulation is of great importance since it awakens the senses, favoring learning.

When children are exposed to different stimuli, they develop physical and cognitive skills such as coordination in body movements, attention, memory, and concentration, helping them understand the world around them and adapt to it.

Children are receiving information from their environment all the time through their senses.

The brain processes this information and converts it into new learnings. That’s why it is very important that, as parents, you ensure you offer your children the right stimuli.

The activities you carry out with them must be presented naturally and calmly, not to generate an opposite effect on children.

The game is an excellent strategy to develop children’s skills integrally. You can provide stimuli with smells, flavors, shapes, colors, movements, sounds, and textures during the game.

This will expand their knowledge, allowing them to get used to different daily life situations identifying the various stimuli.

However, interest and exploration of the environment are essential in this process, so do not limit your children; allow them to feel and explore autonomously, guided by that internal motivation to discover a new world full of interesting things.

In this way, adequate stimulation will also be carried out, and children’s learnings will be favored. Of course, parents must guarantee a healthy, adequate, and safe environment in the exploration process.

HOW TO DEVELOP THIS EARTH DAY ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD

You can do this Earth Day activity with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level and make the exercise more attractive, children won’t need to arrange the pom-poms by color.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 4

You can do this Earth Day activity with older children.

To increase the difficulty level, you can make ice cubes with the pom-poms inside; then, you can arrange the ice in a bucket or container for the children to play with the cubes, feeling the temperatures.
