Activity to Improve Fine Motor Skills in Children

When we talk about fine motor skills, we are not referring only to hand movements. Fine motor skills should include the feet, face, tongue, fingers, and lips. The development of this ability is completely related to thinking skills.

Fine motor skills include actions from the manipulation of objects to written language. It is considered that adequate stimulation is a determinant for the development of thinking skills.

Its development involves everything that has to do with body movement, such as crawling, jumping, running. With these activities, children will achieve control and coordination of their bodies.

In my personal opinion, the area of practical life proposed by Montessori seems very interesting. The main objective is to develop motor skills; however, during the process, very important skills are developed, too, such as independence and autonomy in children. A well-stimulated child will be a useful citizen in his adulthood.

The next fine motor skills for preschoolers activity that we will develop is based on the Montessori methodology’s practical life. It is a very simple activity, and we can have the necessary materials in our own homes.
