A very common feeling is fear. Fear occurs when people face situations that can put them at risk.
In this case, it is not so bad to experience this feeling since it is part of a human’s instinct to take care of his/her life.
It is also possible that this feeling appears when people think that things will not happen as expected.
Like adults, children are also afraid, and this is very normal. Parents must accompany their children throughout this process and show them that it is not wrong to feel fear. In the same way that children’s brains change, so do their fears.
Some fears are characteristic of certain ages. In the first years of life, children are afraid of unfamiliar faces or separation from their parents.
As children grow up, they may feel afraid of the dark, of sleeping alone, of the monsters that hide in the closet or under the bed. This happens because children cannot separate fiction from reality.
Over time, children will stop being afraid of fictional things. It is possible that their fears now are due to the death of a loved one or the damage that a bad person can cause, and even some natural phenomenon.
In teenagers’ cases, many of their fears are due more to their ability to relate and fit in with social groups.
It is crucial that parents are there for their children in this process and knows what their children’s possible fears may be. As already mentioned, feeling fear is normal.
Still, suppose you see that they do not overcome their fears, which does not allow them to lead a normal life.
In that case, you will need to talk with a specialist as children may be suffering from anxiety or any other problem that does not allow them to function properly.

Goal: Through this Earth Day craft activity, children will gain precision in their hands and fingers’ movements. They will also generate ecological awareness and learning about caring for the oceans.

MATERIALS
- Pipe-cleaner cut into three pieces
- A piece of an egg carton (one cup section)
- Whale flippers and a tail made with foamy (previously made)
- A marker
- 3 containers
- Glue
- A tray
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
Take the egg carton and the marker. Draw the eyes and the mouth on it.
Step 2:
Glue the flippers to both sides of the egg carton. Glue the tail underneath the egg carton.
Step 3:
Twist and glue the pipe cleaners on the top of the egg carton.
