On the other hand, if the age difference between siblings is minor, the older sibling is seen as more of an equal and less as an authority figure.

However, it is essential to establish limits with the older sibling since the parents are the ones who educate the children; This means that an older sibling should not impose punishments on his/her younger sibling.

Children must be aware that the authority at home is the parents, who must be present in each process.

The parents should avoid giving the eldest child an excess of obligations to their siblings or, on the contrary, exceed the limit of authority with the minors. These are prevalent situations that parents must deal with.

The work carried out by the older siblings should always be valued, bearing in mind that for the older sibling and the younger, it is counterproductive if the limits of authority are exceeded.

Goal: Through this sensory play activity, the children stimulate their sense of touch, sight, and smell by drawing a picture on ice.

Difficulty level: Basic. This sensory play activity is designed for children to carry out autonomously and independently through exploration in an adult’s company.

ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT

Step 1:

Moisten the paintbrush and smear it with the watercolors.

Paint an easter egg on the ice. In this step, children must have the possibility to feel the ice with their hands so that while they are painting, they can touch it. That will be an encouragement for them to learn to identify different textures and temperatures.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD

You can do this sensory play activity with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, you won’t need to change all the materials.

In a container with water, you can put several ice cubes so that the children can take them out of the water and put them in another container with the help of a filter.

To develop this sensory play activity, children must always be accompanied by an adult to avoid some accident.

In this way, children will carry out an exercise appropriate to their development and abilities.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 4 YEARS OLD

You can do this sensory play activity with older children. To increase the difficulty level and make it more attractive for children, you won’t need to change the materials.

At this age, children have greater skill in their hands and fingers’ movements and will make a much more elaborate drawing.
