- A plastic bowl
- Colored rice (about ½ cup of each color red and green)
- Tiny Christmas trees
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
Put the rice into the plastic bowl.
Step 2:
Introduce the trees unto the bowl.
Step 3:
Children must look for the trees in the bowl and take them out of there.

However, children under two must not use small objects since they tend to put everything in their mouths and get hurt. In this case, you can omit the colored rice and use something more appropriate.

You can also do this Christmas activity with older children. To increase this sensory activity's difficulty level and carry it out according to the children's abilities, you should use smaller objects the same color as the rice. Children have to search more accurately for objects that are inside the container. Because the objects are the same color as the rice, the searching process could be difficult.
