  • Coffee
  • Seasoning
  • Cotton with perfume
  • A banana
  • Glue
  • Cardboard, cardstock (any recycled material)
  • Scissors

ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT

Step 1:

Using the recycled material, make 8 autumn leaves. They do not have to be very big.

Step 2:

Take a couple of autumn leaves and glue some coffee grinds to them. On the next two leaves, glue cotton that has been scented with perfume. On the other two, glue some banana, and for the last two, glue a bit of seasoning.

 Step 3:

Kids will have their eyes closed, and they will identify the pairs with the same smell.

This sensory play activity can also be carried out with younger children. They don’t need to do the grouping in pairs. However, the adult must give clear instructions to the children to internalize the smells and identify them easily.
