Today we live in a world of demands where our days pass by very quickly. However, we seem more concerned about the future without realizing the present. People are subjected to daily needs and pressures to meet objectives; however, children are the most affected by family stress that generates anxiety, insecurity, and control of emotions.
Today's lifestyle is different because it is a digital world, and there's more confinement, leading to problems such as stress and anxiety. Therefore, it is necessary to begin to instill in children a healthy lifestyle such as a good diet, physical and mental exercise, which will help them control and channel their emotions.
Therefore, a good alternative for children to practice is yoga which is a fun way to relax. The different yogs poses become a game, and you can also practice as a family to strengthen the bond. Through yoga, children increase flexibility, coordination, and balance, promoting inner harmony and teamwork without competing.
It also encourages concentration, channels excess energy, builds confidence, and teaches them to believe in themselves, improving self-esteem. Another important aspect is that yoga permits self-knowledge and allows children to know and listen to their bodies, enhancing their mental and emotional state.
"Regarding the origin of Yoga, according to Ponce (2000), this technique is a science of life, which appeared in India.
Its origin is not exact, but some archaeological evidence of its existence is found in stone seals excavated in the Hindu valley. These stones show "asanas," or yoga body postures. They are thought to be from the age of 3,000 years Before Christ. The word yoga appears for the first time in the collection of scriptures named "Vedas," dated about 2,500 years before Christ."
THEME: GROSS MOTOR ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOLERS
HOW DO WE DO THIS ACTIVITY?
Topic: Yoga for kids. Learn to believe and love yourself, recognize your body.
Age: 4-6-year-old children
Goal: By practicing yoga, kids will promote self-knowledge, self-confidence, healthy lifestyle habits, good mental, and physical condition.
Difficulty level: Advanced. This yoga for kids activity is made for children to learn how to trust themselves, self-knowledge, and learning.
- Channel energies
- Create healthy habits
- Control breathing
- Regulate emotions
- A mat and a place where the kid can be comfortable and safe
We highly recommend adult supervision. You must ensure that the place is flat and firm to place the mat and avoid injuries.
The following pose strengthens the toes, ankles, and arms; exercises the knee joints, relaxes tension, and works the balance. They place their hands and legs on the mat, face to the sky, inhale and exhale slowly.
After standing up, children will be able to bend and raise one knee. They will have only one leg to support them to extend their arms to balance and control their body to not fall to the ground.
This posture stimulates balance in children. To achieve this, they will stand with their legs apart with their arms extended.
Put one leg in front and the other behind, bend the front knee a little and stretch your arms as if you were going to touch the sky. This will release the tension in the muscles of the back and thigh.
With this posture, children will raise their hands, place the trunk to one side and another and stretch their legs. Inhale slowly. That position allows relaxing the muscles and control movements.
The idea is that children get relaxed, inhale and exhale slowly. This posture is facing the sky and flexing the legs to their chest.
This is an easy and funny posture. Children must get down on their knees, take a deep breath, and bent back as an arch and dangling legs. Then, stretch out the legs and put their back into an arching, stretching cat's position.
Being very careful, children should put the back as an arch. That will help them to stretch the back and relieve tension.
