Nature Craft Idea for Kids
Recently I was reading about a new syndrome from which the new generations are suffering. It is the nature deficit syndrome.
This is occurring in a few words because our children no longer interact with nature, no longer play, and no longer run in open and natural environments. The fun spaces for children are limited to a closed environment with technological elements.
With the climatic and environmental changes that we face every day, it is understandable that many parents worry and want to protect their children. But without realizing it, we are depriving our children of a million enriching experiences for their life and learning.
Additionally, their health is being directly affected. Boys and girls are suffering from obesity, stress, hyperactivity, depression, among others.
By interacting with nature, children receive impressive benefits in their emotional and cognitive development. A child who often has contact with nature is more creative, autonomous. These same children tend to have better motor skills, have fun more easily, have less stress, achieve greater concentration, and value nature.
The next preschool leaf activity that we will develop is inspired by the Montessori learning method’s practical life. This stamp art activity is very beautiful since our boys and girls will have the opportunity to work in a free and natural environment and stimulate their fine motor skills.
THEME: AUTUMN LEAVES STAMP ART ACTIVITY FOR KIDS
HOW DO WE DEVELOP THE ACTIVITY?
Topic: Stamps with dry leaves (fine motor skills)
Age: 4 to 6 years old
Activity objective: With this leaf activity, the boys and girls will learn a new technique (stamps or stamping) to strengthen fine motor skills and at the same time motivate the love of nature.
Difficulty level: Intermediate. This stamp art activity is designed for boys and girls to develop autonomously and independently.

WHAT MATERIALS DO WE NEED TO PREPARE THE STAMP ART ACTIVITY?
- A tray
- 2 containers
- Dry leaves
- Autumn color paints
- Brush
- Paper sheet
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
In the company of an adult, take a walk to collect dry leaves. You can put the leaves in one of the containers.
Step 2:
Find a comfortable place to sit and take a leaf from the container, then paint the leaf.
Step 3:
With the dry leaf already painted, you can start making stamps on the white sheet of paper. Continue doing the same with different dried leaves painted with other colors.

MODIFICATIONS FOR THIS STAMP ART FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN
This stamp activity can also be developed with younger children. Suppose they have not yet developed their ability to take the brush and paint the leaves. In that case, they can carry out the activity by painting the dry leaf with their index finger. Remember, the child must do the stamp art activity in the company of an adult.
