When children do crafts, they can develop their skills and, at the same time, have fun while promoting their development. This activity is one of the most complete, beginning by strengthening the hands and fingers’ muscles, allowing children to perform daily activities that involve fine motor skills.
Crafts help strengthen children’s motor skills and greatly strengthen the mental processes that are directly related to learning. When both arms are used to carry out an activity, both hemispheres of the brain are being stimulated. This does not happen with many activities. The brain is alert to process all the information it perceives and convert it into knowledge. HOW DO WE DO THIS ACTIVITY?

Goal: Through this butterfly craft wing activity, the children will develop precision of the hands and fingers’ movements, memory and attention, through the elaboration of a butterfly craft.
Difficulty level: Advanced. This butterfly craft for kids is designed to carry out autonomously and independently, with an adult’s accompaniment.

MATERIALS:
- Strips of construction paper /bond of different colors in a container (previously cut out)
- Glue
- A printable of a butterfly
- Colored sequins in a container
- Paintbrush in a container
- Tray
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
It is important that children carry out this butterfly craft activity always accompanied by an adult. It involves very small materials that can be ingested by children and cause bodily harm to the child.
Step 1:
Take a strip of construction/bond paper of the color you want, glue one end of the strip on the sheet.
Step 2:
Fold the strip of construction paper/ bond paper (making a loop) and glue the other end of the strip, they had initially glued until completing a row from top to bottom of the same color. Then, repeat the action with each color.
Step 3:
Spread the glue in the center of the butterfly and glue the colored sequins (if using the sequins, it is necessary to be accompanied by an adult).

HOW DO WE DO THIS BUTTERFLY CRAFT ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF DIFFERENT AGES?
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OLD
This butterfly craft activity can be developed with younger children. To lower the difficulty level, it is unnecessary to change materials. Here, children can rip the paper instead of cutting it, which will help the bilateral coordination and get accuracy in hand and finger movements. This way, they will carry out an activity according to their development and skills.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 6
This butterfly craft activity can be done with older children. To increase the difficulty level, you will need to change the materials used. Children can use a wooden stick to make a butterfly puppet. This way, they will carry out an activity according to their development and skills.
