Through our experiences and knowledge, we gradually shape our nature. That’s why we must help children in their personality development process. That will allow them to be happier people.
When children develop a healthy and mature personality, they can make their own decisions; they aren’t influenced, and they will have healthy self-esteem. Personality begins to develop when boys and girls are aware of their own selves.
Several concepts are very important for children’s development, such as their self-image and what they think about others, the different points of view people will have, their feelings about those opinions, and some other experiences.
Montessori’s methodology understands that a child is full of qualities, liking, and opinions that lead his/her own learning process. However, the adult in charge of guiding the child to improve his/her intelligence and skills should promote healthy personality development. A child that properly develops all his/her abilities will be a useful person to society.
That’s why the following Christmas tree craft activity is focused on Montessori’s learning method. With it,we look forward to helping children develop and strengthen their personalities. It also seeks to enforce them to work independently, their accuracy in hand and finger moving, and their ability to interact with their peers.
THEME: CHRISTMAS TREE CRAFT FOR KIDS
HOW DO WE DO THIS ACTIVITY?
Topic: Fine motor skills/Christmas Tree Craft for Kids
Age: 4-6-year-old children
Goal: Kids will strengthen their hand and finger movements and the skill to follow patterns.
Difficulty level: Average. This Christmas tree craft activity is designed to be done autonomously and independently by following instructions.

- Accuracy in hand and finger movements
- Hand-eye coordination

MATERIALS
- A wooden stick
- A star made from foamy
- Circles of different colors and sizes with holes in the middle (also made from foamy)
- Glue
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
Insert the colored circles onto the wooden stick, starting with the bigger one and ending with the smaller one.
Step 2:
After doing step one, glue the star at the top of the wooden stick.

You can carry out this Christmas tree craft activity with younger children. To lower this kids activity’s difficulty level, you can give children a Christmas tree drawing with several circles with holes in the middle, which must be filled with colored beads.

Christmas Tree Craft for Kids
Older children can also carry out this Christmas tree craft activity. Please consider this a Montessori learning method activity to increase its difficulty level. For example,children must place the circles into the wooden stick using a tweezer.

This video is a step-by-step explanation of the “COLORED CHRISTMAS TREE” activity, designed for 4-6-year-old children. They will make a Christmas tree using circles of different colors and sizes made with foamie.
These circles must be placed on a wooden stick according to its size and implementing the layering method. Skills children will develop with this activity are hand and finger movements accuracy, hand-eye coordination, concentration, following instructions, and autonomy.
To do it, they will need a wooden stick, a star, and circles made from foamy of different colors and sizes with holes in the middle.
