When we carry out visual activities with children, we are simulating the brain to develop properly. That will allow children to develop their cognitive areas; however, this development is linked to the sensory stimulation received. The more stimulation children receive, the greater their cognitive development. As children develop their senses, they are creating a physical and social world.

Human beings are born with the ability to see. Still, we have only 5% of this ability, hence the importance of proper stimulation. To stimulate children’s sense of sight, we must carry out kids activities that include materials.

The interesting thing about working with materials is that we can stimulate other sensory areas to achieve comprehensive development, such as the sense of touch and smell, among others.

Humans are born a social being, and the affective relationships created during early life define their ability to socialize with their environment. Remember that this process seeks to strengthen and educate children’s sight and provide the tools to get the skills to interact with their environment.

HOW DO WE DO THIS ACTIVITY?

Topic: Visual stimulation

Age: 2-4 years old children

Goal: Develop and stimulate children’s sense of sight.

Difficulty level: Basic. This visual stimulation activity is designed to be done autonomously and independently by following adult instructions.

MATERIALS

Colored beads
Plastic bag/Ziploc
Baby oil
Drawing of plates (previously made)

ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT

Step 1:

Glue the piece of paper with the drawings to the plastic bag/Ziploc.

Step 2:

Pour the baby oil into the plastic bag/Ziploc.

Step 3:

Put the colored beads into the plastic bag.

Step 4:

Children must place the colored beads to match the same color plate of beads.

HOW TO CARRY OUT THIS VISUAL STIMULATION ACTIVITY WITH CHILDREN OF OTHER AGES?

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD

You can do this kids visual stimulation activity with younger children. To make it easier and eye-catching, you can add water and glitter to the plastic bag.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OLDER THAN 4

It is necessary to increase the difficulty level to do this visual activity with older children. To do that, you can add different materials to the plastic bag, and children can search for a specific object we ask them to look for.
