When we talk about personal hygiene, we refer to our body’s care and cleaning. It also includes the care and cleaning of our personal items.
By practicing proper hygiene habits, we get further away from bacteria that can cause infectious diseases and strong smells.
Children’s hair does not have to be washed every day, as long as it remains clean. On the other hand, if the hair tends to be oily, it must be washed every day. It is important to use the appropriate product according to age.
If our children are old enough to carry out this task alone, there is no need to supervise. There must be no shampoo residue. This can cause irritation to the scalp, so rinse hair thoroughly.
By allowing boys and girls to wash their hair and bodies, they will learn to do it themselves. Our body and brain are designed to carry out these tasks only if the environment is fostered so that learning can occur.
Daily learning activities will always provide opportunities to children and not limit their process or doubt their great capacities.
Remember that human beings learn in different ways and times, showing greater skill in some tasks than others. This does not mean that we cannot carry out other activities.
Our duty as parents or educators is to identify the right way our kids learn and enhance their development skills without forgetting the other learning processes.
We must carefully select the tasks we perform with the children to face and solve challenges in their daily lives.

HOW DO WE DEVELOP THE ACTIVITY?
Theme: Hair Washing/Fun Easy Art and Craft for Kids Activities
Age: 4 to 6 years
Activity objective: With this easy art and craft for kids activity, we will teach children the importance of personal hygiene and how to keep their hair clean.
Difficulty level: This easy art and craft for kids activity is designed for children to follow the instructions given and do it independently.
Skills:
- Color identification
- Self-recognition (face parts)
- Fine motor skills
- Personal care
Materials:
- One sheet white card stock or construction paper
- Absorbent wipes or paper kitchen towels
- Finger paints (different colors)
- Brush
- Black marker
- Glue
- Pencil
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Step 1:
On the cardstock or construction paper, we draw a face with each of its parts, eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth, and ears. We do this with the intention that the children recognize their face parts.
Step 2:
Cut the paper kitchen towel into thin strips (approximately 7 or 8.) These strips are the hair for the drawing, so they can be cut short or long. With this activity, children are going to strengthen their fine motor skills.
Step 3:
When the kid is done cutting the strips from the kitchen paper towel, the next step is to spread the glue and place the “hair” on the top of the drawing’s head.
Step 4:
Using the finger paints, the kid can start painting each stripe of hair with a different color. Finally, they can paint the face of the cute drawing.

This art and craft activity can be developed with younger children. If they cannot cut the paper with scissors yet, a good option to develop this craft activity is to use colored yarn. In this way, the project will be easier, and they will carry out the exercise.
