MATERIALS
- Marshmallows in a container
- Cornstarch in a container
- Coconut oil in a container
- Food coloring
- A bowl (microwave safe)
- A mixing utensil
- A cookie-cutter
- A tablespoon measuring spoon
ACTIVITY DEVELOPMENT
Before doing this edible playdough recipe activity, it is necessary to ensure that children are not allergic to any of the ingredients to avoid accidents.
Step 1:
Children can do this step with an adult's help (if necessary). Put the marshmallows in the container for microwave usage.
Step 2:
Children can do this step with an adult's help (if necessary). Add two tablespoons of cornstarch.
Step 3:
Children can do this step with an adult's help (if necessary). Add a tablespoon of coconut oil.
Step 4:
Children can do this step with an adult's help (if necessary). Add food coloring.
Step 5:
The adult must do this step. Put the bowl into the microwave. Be sure to stir the ingredients and give the mixture to children when it is cold.
Step 6:
Children can finish mixing the ingredients using their hands and then use the cookie-cutter to make as many stars as they want. If they are not allergic to any ingredient, they can taste the mixture.

CHANGES FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD
You can do this edible playdough recipe activity with younger children. To reduce the difficulty level, you won't need to change the materials. At this age, children have not developed strength and agility in the movements of their fingers, hands, and wrists. The adult can make the Play-Doh, and children can experiment with it, make figures freely, let their creativity fly, and strengthen fine motor skills. In this way, children will carry out a preschool activity appropriate to their development and abilities.
CHANGES FOR CHILDREN OVER 4 YEARS OLD
You can carry out this edible playdough recipe activity with older children. To increase the difficulty level, you won't need to change the materials.
